Sellers Will Soon Be Able To Ship Items Across Continental US Using Facebook Marketplace

Marketplace sellers will now be allowed to ship their items anywhere in the continental US, letting users pay for it from Facebook directly.

This would give the opportunity to sellers to sell their goods to a wider number of potential buyers. Whereas, buyers will have a range of choices to select from and also be satisfied through purchase protection.

“People will soon be able to ship Marketplace items anywhere in the continental US and pay for their purchases directly on Facebook. For sellers this means reaching more buyers and getting paid securely, and for buyers this means shopping more items — near or far.”, revealed Facebook at F8.

Depending on the weight of the package, sellers would be able to select the cost and the options of shipping carriers they want to offer. They will be required to accept the buying order placed by a buyer, within 24 hours and only then they will be able to see the details of shipping.

Shoppers would be able to see products through a live broadcast from the seller’s side, letting them ask questions about it too. It will also allow them to send a message, consisting of the screenshot, to sellers and inquire about the product they want to buy.

Apparently, it will change the focus of the marketplace from local classified to compete with e-commerce sites like eBay or Amazon.

Though it is yet to see whether users will trust Facebook with their payment and shipping information, seeing the trend of privacy issues of the platform.
