Biography, Life, and Music Career of Reekado Banks – Alley Hanniel Solomon (born December 6, 1993) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter best known by his stage name Reekado Banks. He signed with Mavin Records in 2014 and quit the label in 2018. Previous to his record contract with Mavin Records, he goes by the stage name Spicy. At The Headies 2014, Reekado Banks was named Rookie of the Year, and at The Headies 2015, he received the contentious Next Graded award. On September 1, 2016, he launched his debut studio album, Spotlight, which debuted at number ten on the Billboard World Albums chart.

Life and Career
Reekado Banks is the youngest of a musically inclined generation. His father is an Ondo State pastor, and his mother is a caterer. He also has an older brother who is a producer and an older sister who is a gospel artist. Since both of his parents were pastors, he grew up in a strict household. He graduated from high school at the age of 14 and began producing his first album in 2008. All of his earlier songs were written by his older brother, who also taught him the fundamentals of performing, composing, and making. Reekado Banks was created by combining the two names’ meanings; the first part of his stage name loosely translates to “powerful ruler,” while the second part loosely translates to “wealth.” In 2014, he graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in history and strategic study.

Marvins Record Deal and Artistry
His Mavin Records record deal came about due to his brother sending some of his tracks to the company through an online talent hunt. After being chosen from over 5000 entrants, Reekado Banks was signed to Mavin Records. He said his brother sent his songs and met with the label on his behalf without his knowledge, according to an interview with the National Mirror. Reekado Banks also told the National Mirror that he’s a multi-talented musician who creates music with the idea that people are unique and have various tastes.
Singles and Marvins Record Departure
The song “Switch It Up” was released on February 21, 2014, the same day Reekado Banks signed with Mavin Records. The song featured Tiwa Savage and was released as Mavin Records’ first official single. Along with Don Jazzy, Korede Bello, Tiwa Savage, Di’Ja, Dr. Sid, and D’Prince, Reekado Banks are critically praised album “Dorobucci.” Reekado Banks collaborated on three singles with several of the above artists: “Adaobi,” “Arise,” and “Looku Looku.” On February 13, 2015, he published “Katapot,” a song written by Don Jazzy. It was speculated that it was a diss track aimed at D’banj and Wande Coal. In a series of tweets in February 2015, Don Jazzy refuted the charges. Reekado Banks told the Vanguard newspaper that he produced “Katapot” for his followers.
Globacom, a Nigerian telecommunications firm, signed Reekado Banks to a sponsorship contract in July 2015. He confirmed his departure from Mavins Records after five years on December 7, 2018. He also established the formation of his label, Banks Music.
Temi Solomon, his elder brother, was fired as his boss in September 2019. When asked why he did it, he replied, “It was only next level dealings, I wanted to get somewhere else, my view became a lot farther, as I have seen farther than I used to see, and I just needed somebody who’ll see as well, particularly someone who’s been there with other people (artists), but my brother and I are cool.”
