Five Executive Order Biden Signed to Combat the Covid-19 Pandemic

Five Executive Order Biden Signed to Combat the Covid-19 Pandemic: Details of his Covid-19 response plan, including ten executive orders and his intent to use the Defense Development Act, were released by President Joe Biden. The plan builds on last week’s measures and details how Biden plans to contain the pandemic and help the country could recover. Biden would aim to speed up the rollout of Covid-19 vaccinations by supplying local and state governments with more resources, establishing more vaccination sites, and launching a nationwide education campaign. President Joe Biden signed ten executive orders during his first two days in office to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic, mandating public transport masks and directing agencies to use wartime powers to enable U.S. businesses to make masks, swabs, and other equipment for N95.

According to a copy of it released Thursday, the president’s proposal emphasizes ramping up monitoring for the coronavirus, speeding up the rate of vaccinations, and offering more resources and guidance to state and local authorities. Restoring confidence with the American public is a vital component of the Program. It also focuses on vaccinating more persons, safely reopening schools, companies, travel, and slowing the virus’s spread.

We couldn’t rely on the federal government for the past year to act with the urgency, concentration, and coordination we wanted. And we saw the horrific cost of that failure: from 3,000 to 4,000 Deaths regularly,’ Biden said Thursday afternoon, before signing eight of the ten executive orders. They signed two of them on Wednesday. “Out of beds are American hospitals. Companies are closed for good. There are schools stuck in between. And while the vaccine offers so much promise, so far, the launch has been a dismal failure.

At a pivotal point in the pandemic, Biden took office. According to data collected by Johns Hopkins University, nearly 3,000 Americans die every day of Covid-19, and newly identified strains that are more infectious are gaining footholds in the U.S., threatening to drive the nation’s epidemic to even more deadly heights. He said, “We did not get into this mess overnight.” “We are going to get through this. This pandemic we will beat. And allow me to be the clearest on this point to a nation waiting for action; support is on the way. The plan published on Thursday builds on last week’s measures and explains how Biden plans to get the epidemic under control and help the nation recover.

But Biden cautioned in announcing the plan Thursday that the outbreak will worsen before it gets better. He said that next month, the U.S. death toll would likely top 500,000, and it will take months to turn around. Here are the executive orders Biden signed to counter the pandemic in his first two days in office.

The Five Combat the Covid-19 Pandemic

MASKS

Biden signed more than a dozen executive orders in the Oval Office, including one requiring masks on federal property, hours after being sworn in as the 46th president on Wednesday. He also called on governors, local health authorities, mayors, and business leaders to promote mask-wearing and social distancing, the president said Thursday.

TRAVEL

Masks on public transport, including trains, buses, and airplanes, are also required for Biden. Before entering the U.S., foreign travelers will need to request a negative Covid-19 test and be quarantined upon arrival. The Executive Order also orders other agencies to broaden domestic travel and cross-border land and sea travel measures for public health.

SUPPLY CHAIN

Biden also instructed agencies to use the Defense Production Act to force businesses to produce the necessary materials to battle the pandemic. This may include protective equipment such as masks and the supplies needed for Covid-19 tests and vaccine administration.

Last year, the Trump administration invoked the act to get U.S. suppliers to make ventilators and other supplies. In an attempt to strengthen domestic production of essential resources, the executive order, called “A Sustainable Public Health Supply Chain,” also guides “the creation of a new Pandemic Supply Chain Resilience Strategy.”

Biden’s proposal says, “It’s past time to fix America’s COVID-response supply shortage issues for good.”

DATA COLLECTION

To facilitate federal data collection and sharing, Biden signed another executive order directing the response office and all federal agencies. It requires the CDC to publish a dashboard at the county level showing Covid-19 cases, “so that Americans can measure the level of transmission to make their own informed choices in their communities,” the plan says.

NEW TREATMENT

The plan calls for continued research into treatments for Covid, especially antivirals such as Gilead’s remdesivir, even as the vaccination effort gains momentum. Biden established a new drug discovery and extension through an executive order called “Improving and Expanding Access to Care and Treatment for COVID-19,” a Program for growth that stresses diversity in clinical trials.

The order also extended services to assist patients recovering from Covid-19, says the proposal, and increased the healthcare workforce’s ability.
