By requiring a human liveness search, the verification badge that leverages FaceTec’s 3D selfie technology thwarts bots, ensuring the authenticity of millions of users. This week, the identification badges are being rolled out to MeetMe members and will roll out in the coming months on Skout and Tagged.

Once enabled, the authentication badge that will be shown on member profiles will only be shown after FaceTec’s AI program has verified that the user is physically present in front of the camera. The badge, placed on the top right of a profile image, will show to other members that the user has been checked, signaling authenticity.

As the acceptance of badges grows, it will become a requirement for some tasks, such as sending chat images. In addition, for each confirmed user, FaceTec’s AI offers a 3D age estimate, allowing the platform to flag potentially underage accounts, another tool to keep underage users away from its common dating apps.

The verification badge currently shows liveness, but we will also begin comparing the profile picture with the 3D Selfie that was used to validate Liveness as the role is adopted.
