How to Search Mobile Instagram Direct Messages
Don’t forget that you can still search your Instagram direct messages on the official mobile app for Android and iOS before we dive into alternative methods. To do so, on the main home feed, open Instagram, and tap the paper airplane icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

Ways to review and send your DMs to a laptop or desktop.
1. Using the Instagram App for Windows 10
The Windows 10 official Instagram app supports direct messaging.
Open the Microsoft Store and check for Instagram to download the app. On the list, click the first app and then click Get. A notification will be shown stating that you own the app, and it will then be downloaded automatically. Select Launch once it’s done.
On Microsoft Shop Instagram
Let’s say you already have an Instagram account, so press a small Sign In text button at the bottom of the window. Enter your password and username and press login. Now, in the top-right corner, press the Instagram Direct button. It looks like an airplane made of paper. This will bring up all your current DMs.
You can browse them using the search bar or press the plus sign to write a new one. You might be interested in learning how to post your Desktop or Mac on Instagram if you weren’t aware of this app.
2. Using an Emulator for Android
To install the Android operating system on your computer, you can use an Android emulator, like BlueStacks. Within this setting, you can then install the Instagram app.
Download and update your emulator of choice to begin with. For this post, we’ll use BlueStacks. You will be asked to log in to your Google account once you open it and probably check your identity with a phone number. You can see the Google Play Store on your home screen once you’ve signed in. Just as you would on your phone, click this and then check for Instagram. Select Install next. On the home screen, you can now see the Instagram app. Click it, enter your login information, and you can then use it on your phone exactly the way you would. This software is the same, except it’s emulated on your screen.

3. Using the App for Third Parties
There are several applications from third parties (which means that Instagram has not officially created them) that allow you to control your direct messages.
IG: dm, free and available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, is possibly the best one. It is open-source, so if you want, you can access the project’s code. Note, when entering your password into unauthorized applications, always express caution. This is not an official endorsement, but IG dm seems secure enough.
Direct Messages software for Instagram
You can see your 20 most recent conversations using the left-hand pane. On the right-hand side, press one to see the background and use the message box at the bottom to chat. You can check for other users from the top bar. For more features, including customizing the alerts and seeing users who have not followed you back, you can also press your profile icon.
While this free version would probably do the job for most individuals, for a one-time charge of € 10 (US$ 11), there is also an IG dm Pro accessible. This allows you to log in to multiple accounts, view up to 100 conversations, and use a handy emoji search.
4. Using a Mirror for Android
You can mirror your device’s screen to your monitor using Windows 10’s built-in Mirror utility if you don’t want a full-blown Android emulator. It should be remembered that this is not an optimal solution since you’ll still need to use your phone to power Instagram as it shows on your computer. This is because, while mirroring Android, Windows 10 does not play nicely with input.
To begin with, do a device search on Windows 10 to link and open the program. Go to Settings> Display> Cast on your Android phone. Depending on the computer maker, the setting could be elsewhere; for example, Samsung calls it Smart View, and it can be found by searching for Settings. From the list of devices available, tap your PC name.
Finally, turn to the Link app again. You can notice the display of your phone screen, and your monitor will be mirrored from that.
With Instagram, do even more with. You now know that there are many ways to search online for your Instagram DMs. You can directly send Instagram direct messages back and forth with ease, whether you are away from your computer or prefer to use a laptop.
