How To Sell Furniture On Facebook Marketplace: Selling furniture on Facebook Marketplace is a perfect way to make a fast buck. If you’re looking to get rid of something you’re no longer using, or you want to sell something you’ve found in a thrift store to make a profit, Facebook Marketplace is a perfect way to sell used furniture.
While I was hesitant to move my sales and purchases from Craigslist to Facebook Marketplace, I have to admit that FB Marketplace is far superior to Craigslist. I’ve also got an article about the best things to sell on Facebook Marketplace. It’s easier to search as a buyer and more effective to sell as a seller. I also feel a lot better going through FB Marketplace because I can see the person’s profile buying my item. All in all, I’ve had a perfect experience selling furniture through FB Marketplace, and I’ve made hundreds of dollars to do that!
If you want to sell your furniture to FB Marketplace successfully, there are some essential tips and tricks to note. You can take a fast picture, post it, and do it, but you will not sell your item quickly or at a fair price. By taking a little time to do your homework and pre-work, you will sell your item quicker and at a higher price.

Ways to Sell Furniture on Facebook Marketplace
Below are some ways to enable you to sell your used or new furniture online
Take Good Photos
Categorically, the most critical aspect of successfully selling your furniture on the FB Marketplace is taking beautiful and fashionable pictures. I am so displeased and disturbed by the low quality of the images that people will share with their clients. It only takes a few minutes to take a quality picture on your computer. Ensure that your photo is as good and bright as possible, take pictures from all angles, and close up some of the flaws. This will save you time in the long run because it will reduce questions from potential customers.
Another way to save time, in the end, is to take measurements of your furniture piece and post it on the list. Even if you’re selling something where the scale seems obvious or inconsequential, it’s a good rule of thumb to go ahead and take measurements. More often than not, people are asking for dimensions if you haven’t mentioned them. If you go ahead and do this on the front end, it will keep you from having to track down the tape measure, send a message back and forth with the buyers, and update your listing.
Offer porch pickup for smaller items
As a regular buyer on the FB Marketplace, I love it when a seller offers porch pickups for smaller pieces. It’s more convenient for everyone involved because it prevents the seller and buyer from dealing with a stranger or arranging schedules. If you’re selling a small furniture item at a lower price point, offering a porch pickup could draw in more customers who are not interested in having to arrange schedules. Porch picks up means that you place the item on the porch, and the seller picks it up at their convenience after paying you via Venmo or Paypal.
Research the price
Before you post your listing, you must take a few minutes to get the price first. I’ve made a mistake several times in throwing up a quick post and selling it quickly, to find out later that I should have sold the item at a higher price. If you have a unique or antique piece, similar products can likely be sold far higher than you would think. In the same way, you can price something much higher than it is worth in the market. Check for similar products in your region and get your competitive price. If you want to price yours higher than the like, be sure to note in the description why it is worth more

Have a plan for negotiations
I still price my things a little higher to make room for the negotiations. Most of the people would bid a slightly lower price. Going down the price would make the customer more likely to purchase the item from you. If you don’t want to go down in price, be sure to say “firm” in your listing. But in my opinion, instead of saying “firm,” it’s only priced a little higher, keeping in mind what the bottom line is.
Put your furniture in a spot that is easily accessible when it comes time to sell
It may seem like a brainer, but it’s a critical one. When you’re selling goods in storage, and someone wants to buy them that day, the last thing you want to do is try to get it out of storage or have a stranger walk through your house to your storage room. I still have my item in the garage so that when someone comes to pick it up, it’s readily available, and they don’t have to walk through my house.
Be honest and descriptive of any flaws in your posting.
I’ve been trying to buy a desk from FB Marketplace lately. I had already paid for the desk on Venmo, but the desk was marred when I went to pick it up. The seller wasn’t truthful about their postings and their pictures. Luckily, they kindly refunded me the money, but I saw it listed again later that afternoon with the same deceptive images. Save yourself time and trouble by being truthful in your transactions. Trying to deceive your customers into buying something by being deceptive is just going to give you time and energy in the long run. If you’re disturbed, try putting any defects or damaged areas before selling them to get a better price.
