Before canceling your Shopify account, delete any custom domains that are associated. If you do not, you will lose access to the store and will not be able to change anything, including, if you want to, moving the domain name to another provider. Your apps can still charge you, depending on the apps you use and the billing options you have. So, cancel your subscriptions and unpaid fees and uninstall any applications from the list. As part of your Shopify billing cycle, most apps bill you, so this shouldn’t pose a challenge, but cancel and delete all apps to be on the safe side.

How to close the Shopify store?
- Login into Shopify as the proprietor of the Shopify account
- Click Settings >> Click Plan and Permissions from the Shopify admin >>.
- In the Status Shop area, click Sell or Close Store >
- Click the Close Store tab
- You will now have to enter and begin the operation with the store password.
- In the drop-down list, pick the reason why you want to close your Shopify store, and then press Close Store to check your range.
After you close the store, your Shopify store data is stored for around 28-30 days, so you should still be able to reactivate your store if you change your mind at this time. The odds of getting your store back after 30 days are as good as none.

Now, maybe you don’t know them. But there may be other routes that are more lucrative, depending on your reasons for deciding to close your Shopify store. For up to three months, you could pause your Shopify plan for free to think things over and decide if you want to close it. You could sell the store on the Exchange for profit if you have made some sales and have previous clients, or you have put a lot of effort into developing and designing the store. This could help you recover part of the time and/or money you have spent on Shopify in having a store. After you have paused the shop, you won’t be able to access your Shopify admin, but after you put it up for sale on the Shopify exchange marketplace, you’ll be able to access it.
