She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Akabude’s family. Evelyn attended St Emecheta Primary School in Delta State in Ezi City, but she did not finish her primary education. In 1977, Evelyn came to Lagos, where she finished her primary education at Orile Primary School in Oshodi. In the same neighborhood, she also had higher education.
She was working at the Nigerian Distilleries in Ota when she met her husband while attending the Assemblies of God Church. Evelyn attended some management courses in Ghana after she got married. Though she is the pastor’s wife, she is not a pastor, but she is actively involved in her husband’s ministry.
The Plan of Evelyn Joshua
TB Joshua suggested, according to Evelyn, to her within forty-five minutes of their first-ever encounter. At that point, she was twenty-two years old. Evelyn has visited Ikotun-Egbe with her sister, and everyone seems to be talking about a specific prophet. Interestingly, they all seem to have things to say about him that are healthy.
She also decided to meet the prophet because she searched for a spiritual guide at that moment in her life. She went with her sister to see him at home, but she did not meet him. She went to see him several months later, but this time she saw him again. She was shocked to see that such a young man was the prophet. He stared at it for quite a while when he met her, and then he wrote the word Ejide (twin) on a piece of paper.
TB Joshua told Evelyn a lot about herself, some she knew about, and some she didn’t. He proposed to her after their talk, which lasted about forty-five minutes. This was very strange to Evelyn, but according to her, her heart agreed with her when he proposed.
She would later ask him if he could see a lady the first time and propose to her. That’s when he told her about a vision he had a few days earlier. A few months after that meeting, Evelyn married T.B Joshua, and so far, being married to the prophet has been a happy experience.
The fateful encounter with TB Joshua, according to Evelyn, was a divine arrangement since she had an order to go and see him on the morning of the meeting. And even though the proposal felt weird, and she’s thankful to God that their marriage has gone very well so far, she looks back at it.
Evelyn has been married to TB Joshua for over 25 years, but she says that there were some initial obstacles due to their marriage being cross-cultural. Though Evelyn is from Delta, TB Joshua hails from Ondo State.
But things have been good apart from these initial difficulties, and she feels happy in her marriage. Interestingly, all of her kids are children, which is often the case in some relationships, but Evelyn says she’s not bothered because there’s no problem with her husband. She also seems to have many boys around her, so she doesn’t feel you left out with no son at all.
