Facebook Dating Scam

To detect scammers on dating apps, just read all the instructions or cautions below:

  1. Fake Photos

When someone approached you on Facebook or any dating app, take a few minutes to do a Google image search. You can simply call up Google images and then drag and drop the image into the search bar. Now if the name that shows or comes up in that search is not that of your suitor or friend. Or if it is a photo that shows up multiple times and also then associated with many names, then be warned. Don’t be surprised that you are dealing with a scammer, who has uploaded attractive photographs using them to create a fake online identity.

  1. Light Speed Relationship

Don’t be surprised that a con artist can contact you multiple times a day and also fall head over heels in love with you within a week. This is to show that these con artists specifically target people or users they think might be lonely and also gain the victim’s trust by being good listeners and emotionally supportive. We are all human don’t be surprised when emotions take over.

  1. Sharing Compromising Photos

Scammers usually ask victims to share compromising photos. This scammer is not embarrassed to do this, because the photo he or she is sharing with you isn’t real. Well, however, if you share a real photo with them, the scammer is likely to use it to blackmail the victim later. Once victims sent them an intimate picture of themselves, they will blackmail them saying that if they don’t do what they want or need. Then they will post the picture on the internet.

  1. Meeting Shy

You should know that con artists are reluctant to talk on Phone, through Facetime or agree to meet in person. Well, the reason for this is obvious. Con artists will always find many plausible reasons to hinder or delay a personal contact. They will claim to have a phone problem or be in a place with poor reception. Well if you have been chatting with someone for months or weeks and you haven’t seen the person’s face in anything but a picture, consider it as a warning or sign of a con artist.

  1. Request for Money

A con artist is depending on the victim’s gullibility, which is a monetary appeal. The con artist may maintain that he or she wants to visit you in person, but for some reasons they can’t afford the cost. Also, that he or she needs money to come and meet you in person which you may later provide. Or he or she needs money for a medical emergency or some other unexpected expenses. After sending the money the scammer will not disappear but create more excuses for you to send more money to them. Until the victim eventually, wise up and stop sending cash, but thousands of dollars have been sent already. Or they might blackmail you to send more cash leaving you poorer but wiser.
