Activate or deactivate each Facebook push notification.

  • Navigate to Notifications Settings and change the Push setting for each notification to ensure that Facebook only sends you the notifications you want.
  • Use a web browser or the Facebook smartphone app to log in to Facebook.
  • On Facebook.com, click the down arrow in the upper-right corner. On the mobile app, tap the three lines in the lower-right corner.
  • On Facebook.com and in the app, go to Settings & Privacy, Settings.
  • On Facebook.com, go to the left pane and click Notifications. Scroll down to Notifications and pick Notification Settings in the mobile app.
  • You will see the numerous Facebook updates you can receive under What Alerts You Receive. To change the Push setting for a notification, choose it.
  • Toggle the Push option on or off.

You can send the following Facebook updates to your friends:

People You Might Know: Based on your current Facebook friends and their friends, this feature recommends people you might like to friend on Facebook.

Birthdays: Notifies you when a friend’s birthday is approaching.

Groups: Notifies you when new posts are made to the different groups you’re a part of. To change the Push setting for each party, you must first pick it. Notifies you when individuals or pages you follow go live on Facebook with videos.

Events: You’ll get notifications and reminders about upcoming events that you’re interested in. Notifications about activity on pages you follow: Notifications about activity on the pages you follow. Notifications about goods for sale that you may be interested in from the marketplace.

Enable or deactivate Facebook push alerts in your browser. You can choose whether or not to get Facebook push updates to your browser if you use Firefox or Google Chrome.

Go to Settings & Privacy, Settings, Notifications, How You Get Notifications, Browser on Facebook.com. To turn off Facebook push notifications on the browser, change the browser’s Push Notifications setting to On or Off, or pick Mute Notifications. On the mobile app, toggle on or off Facebook push notifications.

To change your Facebook mobile app’s push notification settings, go to:

  • Navigate to Notification Settings > Manage Your Notifications in the mobile app.
  • Turn the Mute Push Notifications switch to On if you want to disable Facebook push notifications. Keep the setting Off if you want to accept Facebook push notifications.

If you want to toggle off push alerts, a screen with time intervals ranging from 15 minutes to 8 hours appears. On the mobile app, set a time limit for muting Facebook push alerts.
