YouTube is an excellent resource for watching user-uploaded videos on virtually any subject. It is not exclusively viewed on smartphones. There are numerous ways to access and watch it on your television.
Where to Locate YouTube
YouTube is available on almost every streaming device, which means that regardless of how you stream, you can watch YouTube on your TV.

SMART TELEVISION
With very few exceptions, if you have a smart TV, the YouTube App is either pre-installed or can be added to your viewing list via the TV’s built-in app selection or store.
If you do not have a smart TV but your television has an HDMI input, you can access YouTube by connecting other devices to your television. Among these additional devices are media streamers, game consoles, digital video recorders, Blu-ray players, and computers.
MEDIA BROADCASTERS
YouTube is pre-installed on plug-in media streaming devices such as Apple TV, Nvidia Shield, and Roku. If it is not pre-installed on your device, you can download and install it via the app store. Google Chromecast, another type of media streamer that plugs into a TV, requires you to cast YouTube to your TV using the app on your smartphone.
YouTube TV became available on several Fire TV devices in late 2019 following a lengthy legal battle, including the Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen), Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV Stick Basic Edition, as well as Fire TV Edition smart TVs. It is not, however, available on all Fire TV devices.
CONSOLES DES JEUX
YouTube can be viewed on a television via a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3/4, or Xbox game console. The YouTube app may come pre-installed or be accessed through an associated app store or list.
CONNECT YOUR COMPUTER OR PORTABLE DISPLAY TO YOUR TV
YouTube is accessible from any computer with an internet connection. However, you can connect your PC or laptop to your TV via an HDMI cable and watch YouTube on a larger screen.
SEARCH FOR DVRS
While their primary function is to record and receive television programs, some DVRs, such as the TiVo Edge and Channel Master Stream+, include built-in access to select streaming apps, such as YouTube.
While certain DVRs include access to YouTube for live viewing, they do not include the ability to record YouTube (or other streaming apps) to their built-in hard drives.
PLAYERS FOR BLU-RAY AND ULTRA HD BLU-RAY
Almost every Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray player includes access to a variety of streaming apps, including YouTube in the majority of cases. This is an excellent option if you do not already own a smart TV or a media streaming box or stick. Typically, the app is pre-installed, but as with the other options discussed, you can add it via the player’s app store.
How to Install YouTube if It Is Not Automatically Installed
On smart TVs, media streamers, select DVRs, Blu-ray Disc players, and game consoles, app selection menus appear differently. Depending on the brand and model, the following steps will apply:
- For your television or another device, select the Home or Start Menu.
- Select the App Store (which may also be referred to as More Apps, Channel Store (Roku), or a brand name, such as Samsung Apps) on the TV or device.
- Locate the YouTube application. If your television or device includes an app search feature, type YouTube to bring up the app icon.
- Add or Install the YouTube app by selecting the YouTube app icon. The YouTube app is automatically added to your app viewing menu following installation.
