How to Use Collab, Facebook’s Music Video App – This article explains how to set up and use the Collab Video software on Facebook. Collab is an iOS-only app that requires iOS 13 or later to use.

How to Build a Collaborative Environment

What exactly is a collab? Collab is a video merging and synchronization software that lets you merge and sync up to three videos from up to three different people. You can either upload all three videos yourself or use someone else’s video and then add your own video (or videos) to it to create your own Collab message.

  • From the App Store, get the Collab app.
  • To sign in with Apple, open the app and tap Sign in with Apple.
  • Use the numbered menu at the bottom of the screen to confirm your age, then sign in with Face ID or your Apple ID.
  • To finish the account setup process, fill in the appropriate fields with a username, show name, and bio. You can also upload a photo by tapping the profile picture button.

How to Make a Collaborative Video

  • To make your own set of three synced images, follow these instructions.
  • In the bottom menu, tap the plus sign (+).
  • If you’re making a video for the first time, you’ll need to grant the app access to your camera and microphone. To continue, press OK.
  • At the bottom of the screen, tap Continue.
  • To start a countdown and start recording your first video, tap the record button in the bottom middle. To stop recording, click the stop button. You have one minute to record video footage.
  • Pick the clip to use in your video using the trimming feature at the bottom of the screen, which can be up to 15 seconds long.
  • In the top right corner, press the arrow button. Your video will be duplicated for each of the three spaces on the following page.
  • Tap the plus sign (+) button and pick 1, 2, or 3 to record a new video to replace one of the three spots.
  • Tap the record button to begin recording your second video, and then tap the stop button to end it.
  • To align the clip, tap the > button in the top left corner of the video you just watched. To sync the sound of your second video with the sound of your first, tap and > on either side of the video.
  • Save until all is in place.
  • To film and align your third and final video clip, repeat steps 6 through 11.
  • By tapping the plus sign (+) icon and choosing the space (1, 2, or 3) you want to re-record over, you can redo a movie.
  • Next should be tapped. To add the song name and artist to your video, tap Choose Song. You can either search for a famous song or manually add a Title and Artist by tapping the plus sign (+) beside the search line.
  • The post should be tapped.

Your video will be available for anyone to use in their own collabs after you’ve posted it. If you remove a clip from your collection, it will no longer appear in other people’s collabs. Your newly released Collab video will appear in the home feed and on your profile.

How to Make a Shared Video with Others

You can find videos from other users by scrolling through your home feed or searching for videos of specific songs and artists by clicking the magnifying glass icon in the bottom menu.

  • In the bottom right corner of someone else’s Collab video, tap the plus sign (+).
  • At the bottom of the screen, tap the plus sign (+).
  • Pick the video space you want by tapping 1, 2, or 3 and then Next.
  • Tap the record button to begin recording your second video, and then tap the stop button to end it.
  • Keep in mind that your clip must be the same length as the video posted by the original poster.
  • To align the clip, tap the > button in the top left corner of the video you just watched. If you want to add another video, repeat steps 2 through 5 and then tap Next.
  • To edit or change the song title or artist, tap it, then tap Post.
