What Is a Facebook Avatar and How Do I Make One?
The Facebook Avatar creator is only available in the mobile app, and the instructions are virtually identical for Android and iOS. At any time, you can create, upload, and edit an Avatar.

  • Open the Facebook app and choose Menu (three lines). In the iPhone version, it’s on the bottom right, and in the Android app, it’s on the top right.
  • To learn more, tap See More.
  • Avatars can be tapped.
  • Choose the skin tone that looks the most like yours, then select Next.
  • You can personalize your Avatar in a variety of ways. Choose a hairstyle after you’ve decided on a skin tone.
  • After that, decide on your hair color, face shape, and eye shape.

  • Choose an outfit and, if desired, headwear.

You may also change your complexion, cheek lines, and brow shape and color, as well as add eyewear and customize your nose, lips, and facial hair. When you’re finished, tap Done. Your Avatar will be created by Facebook.

Your Avatar can be used in a post or as a profile picture.
Once you’ve used Facebook Avatars, the Avatar option will appear in your menu more prominently. Here’s how to use your Avatar as the cover photo for a new Facebook post or as your profile image.

  • Open Facebook and go to Avatars > Settings. It will take a few moments for your avatar to load.
  • To add your Avatar to a new post, tap Share (arrow), then Create Post.
  • Then tap Next after you’ve chosen a pose.
  • Tap Post after you’ve typed your message and chosen an audience. In a new Facebook post, you’ve included your Avatar.
  • Go to your Avatar tab, tap Share, then Make Profile Picture to make your Avatar your profile picture.
  • Choose a pose and a background color, then move on to the next step.
  • Choose a time span to hold your Avatar as your profile picture by selecting the down arrow, then press Save. Your Avatar has been changed to your profile image.

Your Avatar Stickers can be viewed and sent.

You can also display and submit Avatar stickers via Messenger from your main Avatar page, or copy a sticker to use on another platform.

  • Tap the Stickers icon on your Avatar tab. To see all of your available stickers, scroll down.
  • Tap a sticker to send it via Messenger, then tap Send in Messenger.
  • Tap Send after typing a message and selecting a contact or group conversation. Your Avatar sticker will be sent to your Messenger account.
  • To copy a sticker, first, tap it, then select Copy Sticker. Copy and paste it into a text message, an email, or somewhere else, and send it as usual.
