How to Check the Battery Life of AirPods Using the Case
- Lifting the lid of the AirPod case brings up a monitor on the phone that shows the battery life for each AirPod and the case, much like when you first connected your AirPods to your iPhone.
- Since the AirPods case recharges the earbuds, it’s easy to forget that the case needs to be charged every now and then. Checking the battery life serves as a good reminder to charge the case on a regular basis.
Open the lid of the case by bringing it close to the phone. The battery life for each AirPod separately, whether they’re in use, or as a pair, if they’re in the case, is shown in a picture on the iPhone’s Home or Lock screen.
The battery life pop-up screen is not triggered when the lid of the AirPod case is opened when an app on the iPhone is open. When you open the lid of the case, your iPhone must be on the Home or Lock screen. The pop-up screen vanishes when the case lid is closed.
How to Check the Battery Life of AirPods From the Lock Screen
The Lock screen widget can also be used to check the battery life of your AirPods. Depending on which of the objects is within range, the widget displays both the AirPods and the case. If the AirPods are charging, the widget will appear as well.
To use the Lock screen widget to check the battery life, swipe down from the top of the iPhone screen to show the Notification Center, then swipe to reveal the Batteries widget. Swipe right on the Home screen if your phone is unlocked to see all the available widgets.
If the Batteries widget isn’t visible, scroll to the bottom and tap Edit. Then, next to Batteries, press the green + to add the Batteries widgets. The Batteries widget displays your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, among other items.
Test the battery life of your AirPods on your Apple Watch.
Not only can you check the battery life of your AirPods from your iPhone, but you can also do so from your Apple Watch.
If your AirPods are linked to your iPhone or directly to the watch, you can see their battery life on Apple Watch.
- To reach the Control Center, swipe up on the Apple Watch face.
- The battery life icon on the Apple Watch can be tapped. The battery life for each of the devices shows on the Apple Watch screen if your AirPods are in your ears or the case lid is open.
- Scroll down to see a list of all of the AirPods and their cases. Return home by pressing the Digital Crown.
