We spend an excessive amount of time in front of our screens for illogical purposes, and we are unaware of the physical, psychological, and social damage we are causing ourselves.
Here is a list of five potentially dangerous consequences of using a machine for an extended period of time. Take a look and think about it.
1. Wasting Time
Everyone’s most important asset is time, but how we use it affects a lot. People now spend their days sitting in front of their computers playing Candy Crush Saga, Zynger poker, and other pointless games.
Why limit yourself to games when there are a plethora of other unproductive things that can be done on a computer, such as texting, online gaming, or just random web surfing?
While using a computer for entertainment is a good idea, remaining glued to it for hours is not, as it actually wastes time that could have been spent doing something more productive.
2. Physically sedentary
We no longer work because we let machines do everything for us, from washing the dishes to playing music. People no longer travel an inch, except to cover a window blind, thanks to the rise of Artificial Intelligence.
Long gaming sessions and hours of internet surfing have replaced simple recreational practices like walking in the park or playing sports, resulting in a generation that is incredibly computer savvy but physically inactive.
3. A Habit of Skipping Meals
We sometimes fail to eat while working on a computer and end up skipping meals. Our minds lose track of time and the ability to focus on other vital tasks, such as feeding.
And this is clearly dangerous, since our bodies need regular food in order to obtain energy and continue to work properly.
4. Sleep deprivation
For a significant number of young people these days, giving up sleep to remain connected to a computer and the internet has become the standard.
Not only does the machine keep them from getting a decent night’s sleep, but it also disrupts their usual sleeping schedule, causing health problems.
According to a recent report, working on a computer for at least 5 hours per day can lead to insomnia.
5. Inability to Interact Socially
Finally, being glued to a computer will cause you to lose sight of the fact that you are a human being who cannot live alone. The more time you spend on your phone, the less you feel the need to socialize.
Since they tend to experience anxiety when interacting with people, some people begin to prefer chatting online to meeting face to face.
Socializing has become more complex as Artificial Intelligence has advanced. People can now simply walk into a store and purchase a robot with which they can converse and laugh when bored.
