5 Red Flags to Look Out For When Recruiting
As a physician, you will be required to apply for positions and interview for them. 1. Arriving late
You’ll have interviews as a candidate, and if you’re constantly late or don’t show up at all, that’s a massive red flag for recruiters. You may not be seriously considered for a post if you miss an interview.
Double-check that you’ve entered all of your interviews into a calendar with the correct day and time, and that you’ve set reminders for them. If you need to request time off from work, give yourself plenty of time to ensure that you get that day off without having to reschedule.
Allow ample time to go to the interview (at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time) because being late gives the impression that the job is not a top priority for you.
2. Being overly assertive
When it comes to job interviews, everyone wants to know where they stand. Keep in mind, however, that many firms have interview processes that they must adhere to, and that there may be multiple people applying and interviewing for the position.
This means you might not find out if you’ve progressed in the interview process the next day, so don’t bother the recruiter with emails or phone calls inquiring where you stand. It may appear as if the applicant is interested, but it might also appear desperate.
3. Withholding information and avoiding questions

This could be another red flag because they are concerned that you would leave as soon as you find a better paying job.
5. Using ambiguous language in your CV
Because your CV is a representation of you, you want to make sure you include all relevant employment information, such as correct descriptions and dates.
It may look that you are concealing facts on purpose if your CV simply specifies a role title and no information about the organization, description, or dates that you were employed by them.
You do not need to include dates or an explanation on your CV if there are gaps. This will be brought up in the interview, and you will be able to explain the gaps at that time.
Remember that recruiters are people, too, and they aren’t just interested in your qualifications on paper. You’re presenting yourself as the best candidate for the job during the interview, so you want to make sure you’re putting your best foot forward.
