What Is Instagram and Why Should You Be Using It?: What is this new thing that all the cool kids seem to be into, called Instagram? It has been around for years, largely because of a new fascination with mobile photography, quietly picking up momentum. For uploading images and videos from a smartphone, Instagram is a social networking app.
An Intro to Instagram
All who creates an Instagram account has a profile, a news feed, similar to Facebook or Twitter. It shows on your profile when you upload a picture or video on Instagram. In their feed, other users who follow you see your updates. Similarly, you see messages you follow from other people.
Focusing on smartphone use and visual sharing, Ig is like a simplified version of Facebook. You interact with other users on Instagram like other social interfaces. Commenting, liking, marking, and private messaging, by following them, being followed by them. The photos you see on Instagram can be saved as well.
Devices That Work With Instagram
On iOS devices, such as the iPhone and iPad, and Android devices, such as Google, Instagram is available for free for phones, tablets, Samsung, and others.
It can be accessed from a computer on the internet as well. However, it is only possible to upload images and videos and share existing content from a smartphone app with other Instagram users.
Create an Account on Instagram
Instagram asks you to build a free account before you can use the app. You can sign up by email or through your current Facebook account. A username and a password are all you need. Your Ig email address can be updated at any time.
You might be asked if you would like to follow people on your Facebook network on Ig. You may do this directly or skip through the process and then come back to it.
If you have one when you get on Instagram for the first time, it’s a good idea to customize your profile by adding your name, a picture, a short bio, and a website link. They’ll want to know who you are and what you’re like when you follow people and look for people to follow you back.

Use Instagram as a Social Network
The main intention on Instagram is to share the best images and videos and find them. Each user profile has several followers and a number that indicates how many people they follow and how many other users follow them.
There is a button on every user profile that you can press to follow them. If a user has their private profile configured, they must first approve your submission.
When designing and making your profile public, your profile, along with your images and videos, can be found and viewed by anyone. Set the profile to private if you want your updates to be viewed by the followers you approve.
It is enjoyable and quick to connect with posts. To like it or add a comment at the bottom, double-tap any message. To share it with anyone using Instagram Direct, you can also click on the arrow icon.
Use the search tab (marked by the magnifying glass icon) if you want to find or add more friends or interesting accounts to follow, to browse through personalized posts recommended to you. To look for unique users or hashtags, you can also use the search icon at the right.
Apply Filters and Edit Your Instagram Posts
Instagram, in terms of sharing options, has come a long way from its early days. Users could only upload images via the app when launched in 2010 and add filters without any additional editing functionality.
Today, on your mobile, you can post through the app or from existing images or videos. You can also upload pictures and videos for up to one full minute, and you have several additional filter options, plus tweaking and editing capabilities.
You can pick the photo or video tab when you tap the middle Instagram posting tab to let the app know if you want to upload an image or take a video. Use the Library to pick something that you have stored if you don’t want to catch it via the app.
Instagram has 40 filters that can be added to videos and images. Some extra options for photo editing allow you to straighten the image, adjust things like brightness and warmth, and color overlay. You can disable audio, pick a cover picture, and trim videos if you are using the iOS app for videos. Or, to make 15-second video clips, try Instagram Reels.
Share Your Instagram Posts
You’re taken to a tab where you can fill out a caption, tag other users to it, tag it to a geographical venue, and simultaneously upload it to your other social networks. After an optional filter has been added and some edits are made.
Your followers will display it and engage with it in their feeds once it is released. By tapping the three dots at the end, you can delete a post or edit the post information after you publish it.
You can customize Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr to get images posted to your Instagram account. If, as opposed to remaining gray and inactive, these sharing settings are highlighted, your Instagram images are automatically uploaded to your social networks after you click Share. Tap one so that it’s gray and set to Off if you don’t want your photo posted on some specific social network.
View and Publish Instagram Stories
Instagram has a feature called Tales, a secondary feed at the top of your main feed. It includes the users’ photo bubbles you track.
To see that user’s story or the stories they have published over the last 24 hours, tap a bubble. You may notice how similar the Ig Stories feature is to it if you’re familiar with Snapchat.
Tap your photo bubble from the main feed or swipe right on any tab to access the Stories camera tab to publish your post.
