How To Change Your Language Settings On Facebook

I have seen numerous instances where Facebook’s default language is immediately altered. Most users say that, without any excuse, their language has been modified to Arabic, Polish, French, Vietnamese, etc. To get an idea of what I am talking about, go here and read all the comments.

Going to the bottom of the page and then changing it by clicking the Language link is the most common way to change it. But for most people, this method allegedly does not work; when they modify the language using this method, it is changed back to some other language.

The social media site offers in-depth language and area settings accessible with only a few clicks if you want to develop your language skills through immersive practice or add language to Facebook.

How to Select Facebook’s Default Language

Navigate to the Facebook desktop website to open the Language and Area Settings menu and then click the down arrow in the page’s top-right corner. Select “Settings” or “Settings & privacy” in this drop-down menu.

Select Language and Area in the left-hand sidebar. If you’re using Facebook redesign, from the pop-up menu, click on the Privacy option. Click the ‘Delete’ button on the right of the ‘Facebook Language’ option to change the Facebook interface’s language for your account.

Click the first drop-down menu and pick the language for all Facebook icons, names, menus, etc., that you choose to use. A second drop-down menu will appear if you select a language that hasn’t been wholly introduced across all Facebook applications.

Using this menu, if your first choice is not available, you can choose a secondary language that Facebook can use. Click ‘Save Changes’ when you’re done.

Bear in mind that this will change the Facebook interface’s language and not change the posts you see.

Furthermore, if you want to change the default date, time, number, and temperature formats used by the Facebook interface, you can click the “Edit” button next to any of the “Region Format” options.

How to Change Translation Settings in Facebook

Facebook translates the language of specific articles for you automatically. English-language accounts can have their posts converted to English by default. You can change the language and prevent Facebook from converting posts automatically into your choosing language.

You can edit these settings by navigating from your Facebook Settings page to the Language and Area tab. Click the first “Edit” button under “Posts From Friends And Pages” to change the language Facebook automatically translates posts.

Click the second “Edit” button to prevent Facebook from translating posts and pages from a particular language. Type in the languages you do not want to translate, and then click on the “Save Changes” button when you’re done.

Finally, under ‘Posts From Friends And Pages,’ you can press the third ‘Delete’ button to prevent Facebook from automatically translating posts from a given language. Type in any language(s) as above, and click ‘Save Changes.’

For those who speak several languages, these features can help make searching Facebook posts and pages more manageable. It’s also nice to know how to visually reverse language settings if you can’t speak the language; you or anyone else might have updated your profile.
