Before we had dating apps like OkCupid and Tinder, Facebook’s “poke” function let users get the awareness of others in their own unique way. For many, poking someone on Facebook was reviewed as a form of harmless flirtation, and also an expression of interest, very similar to swiping right on Tinder—the person you’ve poked will know you’re interested in some way, but nothing beyond that. They may respond; they may not. Nevertheless, poking was an excellent way for a user to let their interest be known!
As Facebook kept growing, the poking function became more annoying than useful, until the Facebook “poke” reached an almost ironic, cutesy stage, where people would “poke” each other simply for the sake of being funny. While we do not know what type of social status poking someone holds these days, we can tell you that the poking function has been consigned to the world of Facebook apps, which many people hardly check.

Two Ways to Check Your Facebook Pokes
If you’re looking to check your Facebook pokes, the first thing is to open the Facebook app and go straight to the bottom of the screen, where you can tap the “More” button. Next, go to the “Apps” button and tap again. Unless Pokes is one of your more regularly used apps, this is where it will appear. If you are prone to use the app more frequently, it may appear on the list of options when you initially click “More,” maybe even showing up next to one of Facebook’s more favorite apps right now, “On This Day.”
Once found, tap the FB Pokes app, and there you are — you’ll be able to view or see who has poked you recently, whom you’ve poked, and FB’s suggestions for who you should poke! For instance, if you look at a friend’s page often, the Poke app will likely suggest you give this person a fast “poke.”
The second way to check your Facebook pokes is to simply go to the search bar at the top of the FB Mobile app and type in “Pokes.” This should take you to the Facebook app itself, which will possibly offer you the same options as the method described above.
